getID3 does support (at least) 12 of your 17 listed formats. Not to mention several dozen other formats you didn't mention.

You should look at the project web page that has a nice detailed listing of supported formats.

Unsupported ones that you mention (for my reference so I don't have to look them up again)The two Sony ones might get support if I had sample files and documentation and inspiration, the other two unlikely candidates for support.

Thanks for replying and your valuable Information.

I have another question:

When I tried to find the duration of a mp3 file, it shows a wrong duration of the file.

Consider the Actual duration of a file is 4 min and 10 sec. But the duration shown by getid3 is 3 min and 8 sec.

Why it is displaying like this?

Also when I try to check for some more mp3 or wav files, it's not displaying the duration at all.

Please help me on those.

Thanks in Advance again.

First check the errors and/or warnings to see if anything obvious is mentioned (like missing part of the file, etc).

If you can't spot anything wrong, please post (or PM me) a link to some sample files that are having problems and I can look at them.

Hi,

I have download the 0ne hour audio file from,

http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2007/10/t ... te-be.html

I have tried with "Run For Your Life (MP3)" ,"Julia", "I Will".

None of the files is showing me the duration from the above location.

And also,

http://rapidshare.com/files/229049881/s ... _.mp3.html

Total duration of the file from above link is 4 min and 10 sec. But in getID3 it shows 3 min 6 sec .

Please help me on those.

No, and no. The total duration of the file is 3min 35.928sec, which is exactly what getID3 shows. What program(s) are you using to determine the playtime of this file? Note that this is a VBR file without a VBR header, so without parsing all the frames in the file you can't get an exact playtime, so most programs will give a quick-estimate which can be off (possibly by a significant amount). Open up the file in your favourite audio editor (e.g. Audacity) and you'll see how long it is. Alternately, pull out your stopwatch and listen to the file (note that the last ~2.2 seconds of the file are more-or-less silent, so it may seem like only 3m34s).

Please be more precise -- please state what duration you expect each file to be, and what duration getID3 is showing.
Again, where are you getting your expected duration? That page doesn't show any playtimes for any of the files, beyond the imprecise "one hour" reference.

You want to get information from the file before you have the file? Please, explain how you think that might possibly work...?
