How to Write New Genre which is not in exisitng Genre Lookup

Post by asimarif » Sat Jul 18, 2009 1:16 pm

I have a very small problem. I need to add a genre "International" which is not currently in the Genre Lookup Table. Can anybody please help me out how to do that?

Hi,

In module.tag.id3v1.php #108 try adding the following after the Synthpop entry;

Code: Select all

			148  => 'International',

I h ave done the same already but it didn't work for me. It gave me the Genre as "(148)" in the mp3 metadata when I check its properties. Any other suggestions please???

Hi,

I assume that you are dealing with MP3 files and the demo.write.php from getid3 seems to write custom genres OK, so see that for details.

ID3v1 does not support custom genres.
ID3v2 and APE do support custom genres.

I'm using the demo file named as "demo.simple.write.php" and changed the following lines

$tagwriter->tagformats = array('id3v2.4');
and
$TagData['genre'][] = 'International';

but it didn't change the genre to "International". Please confirm how using ID3V2.x I can have custom genre?

Hi,

Take a look at the file named "demo.write.php".

Sorry, it was my typing mistake. It's "demo.write.php", not "demo.simple.write.php". But no luck at all
