Reading Album Artist Tag

Post by nickharambee » Mon Jul 30, 2012 11:19 pm

I'm wondering if it is possible to read the Album Artist tag using getID3?

Thanks,

Nick

Yes.

It depends what tag format you're using and where the data happens to be stored. Take a peek at the file(s) in your browser using demo.browse.php and see where the particular information is hiding.

Thanks James,

I am trying to use demo.browse.php. First I got the magic quotes error message so I disabled magic quotes in the usual way, using .htaccess (which normally results in successfully accessing demo.browse.php), but this time I got the following error:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@<servername> and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Any ideas? I have checked in all the Error logs I can think of checking and no recent errors show up.

Nick

Presumably with .htaccess thus configured you have no problem accessing any other page on your site, only demo.browse.php ?
I also assume you don't have access to fix the problem at the source, to turn all magic_quotes off in php.ini?
Which version of getID3 are you using?

Ah, no, didn't spot that. I can't access any of my website when I use any of the following in .htacess:

php_value magic_quotes_gpc off
php_flag magic_quotes_gpc off
php_flag magic_quotes_gpc 0

Which is strange, because I got this working before on the same server. I am on a shared server so can't access php.ini.

Not sure what version of getID3 I am using - where do I check this? It's a fairly recent version, if not the latest.

**UPDATE**

OK, I now realise that I used a different method last time. I created a php.ini file in the demos folder, added the following:

magic_quotes_gpc = Off
magic_quotes_runtime = Off
magic_quotes_sybase = Off
extension=pdo.so
extension=pdo_mysql.so

And this is now working. Right, back to the original issue...

It'll show up at the bottom of most of the demo pages, in $getid3->VERSION, or you could just look in getid3.php around line 116, e.g.:

Code: Select all

const VERSION = '1.9.3-20111213';
The top of the changelog should also reveal the version number, assuming the changelog was replaced during the most recent version upgrade (if applicable).
