Problem determining file type

Post by urbane bonobo » Wed Mar 29, 2006 1:10 am

I just downloaded getID3() and I'm having a bit of trouble getting the format of real audio video files. My code is:

$fileinfo = $getID3->analyze($video_url);
$format = $fileinfo['video']['dataformat'];

This code works for windows and quicktime files, but $format is blank when dealing with Real Audio files. I've also tried $format = $fileinfo['fileformat'], but it doesn't work either. I've tried real audio files with extensions .ram, .rm. and .ra, but none of these are recognized.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try examining the file with /demos/demo.browse.php to get a feel for what information is actually being returned.

Are you sure that the files you're examining are the real data files, and not simply metafiles? (hint: data files will be several MB, metafiles will be <1kB).

Examine $fileinfo['warning'] and $fileinfo['error'] for possible reasons the files aren't being recognized.
