Can somebody explain me what's the difference between application/octet-stream and application/msword? What's better? Why mime-support is using application/msword, and why getID3() uses application/octet-stream instead?

Thank you!

"application/octet-stream" is the MIME way of saying "unknown binary data", which is usually handled by saving to disk rather than opening with an associated application. "application/msword" is specifically for Word documents (or at least document types that Word handles). getID3() does not differentiate between different types of Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) so it just returns a generic "unknown" MIME type.
