Still having trouble with ICONV()

Post by snadam » Thu Mar 08, 2007 2:27 pm

I'm running getid3 v1.7.7 on Windows 2000 Server with PHP5 and Apache installed by WAMP.

I've searched the forum and read all the posts I came up with but still can't figure out how to fix my problem.

getID3 returns the error:

I'm running PHP5 with the ICONV support is built in so why am I getting the error and how should I clear it up?

Notice: Undefined index: encoding in e:\websites\kplaylist\getid3\module.tag.id3v2.php on line 1413
PHP does not have iconv() support - cannot convert from to UTF-8

Thanks for all your help and such a fantastic script...

I am pretty sure this was fixed in 1.7.8beta1 (although not mentioned in the changelog).

If you don't need to write id3v2 tags, please use 2.0.0beta4 instead.

I'll give 2.0b4 a try. I previously attempted to use 1.7.8b1 and was able to get past the ICONV issue but found that most records were truncated. For example:

Actual artist: Scott Henry
Output from getid3: Scott Hen

Actual album: Buzz Life Live
Output from getid3: Buzz Li

The number of characters in each field varied from file to file. After messing around with 1.7.8b1 for a while I just went back to 1.7.7
