DSS Format

Post by filmo » Wed Jan 21, 2004 6:04 am

I realize that DSS is a proprietary format, but would love to have the program recognize it's headers.

For those who don't know, DSS is the format of audio recorded by those digital handheld dictation devices made by Olympus and others. It creates higly compact audio files (1 hour = 2mb). The sound horrible, but unfortunately, we have to use them at work. It would be great to get info on them as well.

I can look into adding support for the format, if you can send me a (or better yet several) sample file(s) of various lengths. If you can record with different options (compression levels?) a sample of each would be very useful. Please email them to info@getid3.org

getID3() v1.7.8b4 will include basic support for DSS (Digital Speech Standard) files. Since I lack any real documentation, any small sample files are still welcomed at the above email address.
